Elevating Hospitality: the Role of Entertainment in Hotels

Credit: Trump International Beach Resort Miami

A leading Miami beachfront resort creates a newly formed position of Recreation Operations Manager, paired with a comprehensive line-up of all-new family-friendly offerings, to provide a splash of fun just in time for spring and summer getaways.

In the world of travel and luxury hospitality, hotels and resorts strive to create memorable experiences for their guests. While comfortable accommodations and exquisite dining are essential components, the role of in-house entertainment should not be overlooked as hotels and resorts compete with cruise ships, all-inclusives, attractions, theme parks, and other venues when it comes to entertainment and family fun. From live performances to recreational activities, the entertainment offerings contribute significantly to the overall guest satisfaction and have been a top priority for the New Year for us at the independently owned and operated Trump International Beach Resort Miami on iconic Sunny Isles Beach.

The resort stands as a noteworthy example, implementing innovative approaches to redefine luxury accommodations. Panoramic views of the Atlantic Ocean and a suite of upscale amenities characterize this haven of sophistication. While plush accommodations and exquisite dining remain integral, this article delves into a key factor that sets Trump International Beach Resort Miami apart - its strategic focus on in-house entertainment. The resort is pioneering a guest-centric entertainment experience in 2024, reshaping industry standards and fostering guest satisfaction in an ever-evolving market.

It All Starts With Top Talent

We recently hired a new Recreation Operations Manager who oversees entertainment and activities at the resort. A well-established singer and dancer with experience performing throughout South Florida and while cruising the seas, Eliana Sasics brings a touch of world-class entertainment to our resort's recreation program. Also known as the resort's dedicated Fun Coordinator, her sole focus is to build resort programming for all ages. From kids' activities, teen fun and games, to events for adults of all activity levels, there is something for everyone to enjoy.

Live Performances

One of the key elements that set upscale hotels and resorts apart is the inclusion of live performances. Whether it's a soothing vocalist in the lobby, a lively musical ensemble by the pool or a captivating dance performance in the evening, live entertainment adds a touch of sophistication and cultural richness to the guest experience. This creates an ambiance that goes beyond the everyday, allowing guests to immerse themselves in the local or thematic atmosphere. Our guests love to sit back and savor the sounds of live music at a variety of our resort venues. Azzurro Italian Restaurant & Bar features a dynamic violist on Sunday and local Miami DJs on Thursday nights. At our resort pool we keep the Miami vibe going with young and the young at heart with local DJs and live trumpet and guitar music, and our Sunday Afternoon Beach Party rocks with live bands and signature cocktails.

Themed Nights and Events

To enhance the overall guest experience, themed nights and special programs are always on our calendar. We have launched a series of signature events including Sake Sundays at our Japanese fusion restaurant Saka Mori, Antipasto Thursdays at our Azzurro Italian Restaurant, and a decadent Sunday Brunch, which is popular amongst both resort guests and locals alike. From our renowned Sunday afternoon beach parties and special oceanfront events, i.e. Mardi Gras, St. Patrick's Day, and Cinco de Mayo, to cultural festivals to beachside art shows and art walks, these events provide guests with an unparalleled opportunity to immerse themselves in unique experiences with authentic local flairs. Such activities not only entertain but also foster a sense of community among guests, creating friendships and lasting memories of their stay.

Recreational Activities

Beyond traditional forms of entertainment, our resort offers a plethora of recreational activities to cater to all preferences. Guests who prefer to be out on the water can take advantage of classes and clinics such as paddleboarding, water volleyball, electric surfing, and stand-up paddleboard yoga. Those who rather stay on land can participate in soccer, pickleball, volleyball, Zumba and tennis clinics. From our own sports court to private cabana rentals, we strive to offer a range of options to keep our guests engaged and entertained throughout their stay.

Family-Friendly Entertainment

Families and friends looking to escape to sunny South Florida can experience endless family-friendly fun at our resort. Even the youngest guests can enjoy their own activities in Toddlerville with Storytelling Time and arts and crafts. Planet Kids' fully interactive kids program brings the wonders of South Florida's natural and cultural environments to the kids and ensures that children have an unforgettable time. Family-focused entertainment adds an extra layer of joy to the overall guest experience, allowing parents to unwind and enjoy their vacation.

Four-Legged Family Members

Resorts should also consider accommodating the fun of traveling with four-legged family members too, as it is often difficult for families to leave their canine companions behind while on vacation. In addition to basic supplies such as dog beds, food, water bowls and waste bags, special welcome amenities such as food mats, toys and city guides to nearby walking paths can become playful, interactive time the whole family can enjoy.

On-The-Go Tech

In today's fast-paced world, tech is essential for on-the-go families. Resorts can take their guest experience to the next level with new technology such as the Go Hotel Life App.

Available for download on Google Play or the App Store, this comprehensive, contactless guest services app is easy-to-use. Guests may simply download the app prior to arrival and immediately begin to explore the resort and its amenities, all from the convenience of their mobile device.

Once on property, the app serves as a digital room key and dedicated concierge. From check-in through checkout, guests can access restaurant menus, make dining reservations or order room service with the touch of a button. Plus, families can request housekeeping service, cabana rentals, poolside amenities, water sports activities, spa and salon appointments, and so much more.

Best of all, the app creates digital postcards so that guests can easily share their on-property experiences with family and friends back home, further amplifying fun, visibility and reach.

Culture & the Arts

Often overlooked by resorts and hotels, culture and the arts can play a pivotal role in attracting guests while also building a sense of place and spirit of community. In a vibrant, dynamic and culturally diverse city such as Miami, culture and the arts play a particularly vital role in the guest experience. Accordingly, we have brought in a wide range of experiences for arts enthusiasts, from the live music found throughout the property to exhibits and displays by local artists and artisans.

Most recently, an innovative art walk installation was added to our resort's second floor, providing an artistic touch to the overall ambiance. This exclusive collection features work by the late prolific American artist, Sica, who established her mark in abstraction, creating original prints in the same way as master printmakers. Her paintings, prints, constructions, sculptures and ceramics are in museums and private collections worldwide, from London to Tokyo to, now, Miami. Her works express themes revealed in her personal observation of different cultures, an ideal fit for the diverse backgrounds of the resort's guests and residents.

In summary, entertainment plays a pivotal role in shaping the guest experience. From fine art displays and live performances that create a sophisticated ambiance to recreational activities that cater to a wide range of interests, the entertainment offerings contribute significantly to guest satisfaction. As the hospitality industry continues to evolve, the emphasis on providing innovative and engaging entertainment options will remain a key factor in attracting and retaining guests. Ultimately, hotels and resorts that successfully blend comfort, dining, and entertainment will stand out as true destinations for unforgettable experiences.
